Saints' Sean Payton: I'm not here 'to be the players' friend'
MIAMI - Freak flops, plaid shorts, sweatshirt hooded visor. Sean Payton looked like a participant Thursday as he stood on the podium for a forum Super Bowl on Thursday.
But he is head coach of the Saints, and he has to do with the notion that he is coach of a "players" in how it manages its assets.
"I do not like the term," said Payton. "All" players coach fixing, I kind of just cringe. "
He is the coach. The saints are the players.
"I think it's awesome you're demanding," he said. "I think it is important that you be fair.You do not want to settle for nothing less than what you are looking for. This is not our job to be the friend of the players. It is our duty to teach and motivate them, give them a plot and make difficult decisions. "
This does not mean that the Saints players can not get a hot and hazy discuss the coach who took them to the franchise's first ever Bowl Wonderful.
